I’ve got three words for ya: Hall of Fame. D-Generation X, one of WWE’s most popular factions ever and a cornerstone of the Attitude Era, will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in April. ESPN broke the news earlier today.
From the looks of the report, the every major member of DX will be enshrined in the Hall with the exception of Rick Rude. Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, X-Pac and Chyna will be getting the nods.
This is interesting for a couple of reasons: Firstly, it makes Shawn Michaels just the second person to be inducted into the Hall of Fame twice, following his idol Ric Flair who was inducted both individually in 2008 and as a member of the Four Horsemen in 2012 (there are rumors that the Hart Foundation is also getting inducted, which would make Bret Hart and Jimmy Hart multi-time Hall of Famers as well, but that is yet to be confirmed). Secondly, after years of controversy following her troubled life after wrestling, Chyna is finally getting her rightful recognition as one of the most influential women in the history of the company.
Also, with the induction of X-Pac, every member of The Kliq is now a Hall of Famer.
D-Generation X was formed in 1997 by Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Chyna and Rick Rude. The group is one of the most memorable aspects of the vaunted Attitude Era, and served as the launching pad for Triple H’s main event career. Categorized by crude humor, sexual innuendos and iconic promos, DX is still fondly remembered by fans around the world today.
And if you’re not down with that…well, you know the rest.
