All Things All Elite: February 17th, 2021

Get caught up on the All Elite Wrestling Women’s Eliminator Tournament, Dark, BTE and more!

Good afternoon, my fellow AEW fans! We had the world’s strangest AEW Dark this week with matches that ranged from five minutes long to literally five seconds long. Often not even bothering to play people’s music. It was odd to say the least. Aside from that, though, we got some fun Twitter happenings (possibly ROH shenanigans soon?) and of course the Japanese side of the women’s tournament bracket! Check out what happened and enjoy this week’s episode of Dynamite!

Being The Elite

  • We have a montage of Private Party and Matt Hardy leading up to the match at IMPACT No Surrender. We then see Private Party losing the match and Matt screaming at them cut over with audio from voicemails of Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy calling Hardy asking for forgiveness.
  •  John Silver and Alex Reynolds are looking around for Sting. John mistakes Serpentico and Luther for Darby and Sting. Luther mistakes what Sting they’re talking about. There is confusion all around. Alex and John walk off.
  • Allie and Penelope are playing Animal Crossing with Harry Potter sweaters on. Brandon Cutler talks to them for a bit then walks off calling them Mudbloods.
  • Alex Abrahantes hangs out with Five, Ten, and Anna Jay. Dasha, Proud and Powerful, and Sammy approach. All eight of them pull out headbands like it’s a karate fight. The group then fight, complete with “pow!” Batman-esque word bubbles. The Dark Order looks like it will win when Santana and Ortiz rally and prevail.
  • The Dark Order try to figure out why Adam Page likes Matt Hardy more than them. While they try to figure that out, they realize Five isn’t doing anything to help. Five says he is answering emails and the rest of the group yell at him for not helping. Everyone tells him not to bother with the emails, it’s not worth it.
  • Fuego and Sammy cut a promo for the BTE belt saying the belt is only going to be defended on his vlog.
  • On Sammy’s vlog, Sammy loses the belt to Ten in a handstand competition until they realize that it’s actually Kris Statlander under Ten’s mask, not actually Ten. Sammy ends the segment still champ.

AEW Dark

  • Jon Moxley def. Jon Cruz.
  • Chaos Project def. Bear Country
  • Butcher & Blade def. Jake St. Patrick & Sage Scott
  • Shanna def. Renee Michelle
  • Alex Reynolds & John SIlver def. Eric James & VSK
  • Jurassic Express def. Baron Black & John Skyler. Luchasaurus has not gotten his horns fixed yet and is still hornless.
  • Tay Conti def. Vertvixen
  • Eddie Kingston def. Aaron Solow
  • Ricky Starks def. KC Navarro. This was by far the shortest match in AEW ever. Ricky gave a spear and that was that.
  • Brandon Cutler def. Misterioso
  • Powerhouse Hobbs def. RYZIN
  • Nick Comoroto def. Fuego Del Sol

Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament

  • Yuka Sakazaki def. Mei Suruga. Yuka Sakazaki showed off her high flying ability here which was in contrast to Mei Suruga’s attempts to ground her.
  • Emi Sakura def. VENY. The match was an extremely hard-hitting affair. Emi Sakura prevailed and went for a handshake, to which she was met with a slap from VENY.
  • Ryo Mizunami def. Maki Itoh. Despite Mizunami winning, Itoh seemed like the standout here in terms of character and resilience, delivering headbutts and taking DDTs left and right.
  • Aja Kong def. Rin Kadokura. Rin Kadokura was able to get offense in but overall Aja Kong dominated ending the match with an extremely visceral pile driver.

Other Shows and Twitter Happenings

  • As you can probably guess from the BTE summary, Private Party lost their match at IMPACT’s No Surrender
  • Tony Khan’s commercial on IMPACT this week was just about how he gives so much and never receives. Also, we had the tag team FinJuice from NJPW on IMPACT this week but not much else for AEW there.
  • On NJPW KENTA talked about him representing NJPW in AEW, and he calls out Moxley again.
  • Private Party try to find a way to make up their loss to Matt Hardy
  • Colt Cabana is still working on getting Adam Page to join the Dark Order
  • The Dark Order seems to be looking for a new member, Maki Itoh replied and then followed up again replying to Alex Reynolds. Evil Uno replied in the comments of the second tweet.
  • Dustin also “@ed” (is that how you write atted?) her, so perhaps she will be more prevalent to AEW in the future.
  • Hangman tells everyone on Twitter not to snitch on him. Hopefully Matt Hardy doesn’t pay attention to Hangman’s Twitter.
  • MJF and Sammy Guevara have blocked each other on Twitter.
  • After his match last week, Lee Johnson was officially declared as signed to AEW.
  • Thunder Rosa shows off her workout in the cold and Britt has a few choice words.
  • Britt also has a bit of a flirty moment with Tony Schiavone
  • On Sammy’s vlog Fuego Del Sol wonders if he he has what it takes to live up to people’s expectations, QT Marshall schedules a match for him vs Fuego at the Nightmare Factory, and Sammy points out to Santana and Ortiz that they’re actually a tag team but not the tag team representing the Inner Circle.
