#5: Batman/Dylan Dog #3

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of May 15, 2024

Listen to the latest episode of our weekly comics podcast!

Batman/Dylan Dog #3 is a solemn conclusion to our duo detectives’ team-up. The gothic story is paired with entertaining dialogue and beyond beautiful art. Though the stakes could be higher, Batman’s interactions with Dylan Dog show that the two make for a great pairing and could provide for fun future issues if they ever decide to meet again. #4: The Displaced #4

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of May 15, 2024

Oftentimes, I think a miniseries can fumble their penultimate chapter, as they need to pivot to prepare for a grand finale. But in the case of The Displaced, it was less of a pivot and more of a recommitment and expression of what this book has done so well in its still-young run — which is to say, great character work and just enough magic to get me second guessing the world. Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of May 15, 2024

Outsiders #7 is both a revelation and a revolution, with its creative team continuing to push the boundaries of what to expect in a superhero narrative. It’s rare that a series like this comes along, especially in the mainstream comics world, but that’s what makes this Outsiders run all the more special.

#1: Suicide Squad: Dream Team #3

Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of May 15, 2024

I love it when a plan comes together! Plan on getting this issue and the entire miniseries – it’s one of the best books out there. With one of the best incarnations of the team ever, some great character moments and brutal action, Suicide Squad: Dream Team #3 is one of the best books of the week.
