Baltimore: The Infernal Train #1 (Dark Horse)
Story by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden, and it’s pretty damn compelling. Vampires with strange motivations, the plague, and good ole’ wooden-legged Lord Baltimore. He’s in Budapest waiting to meet a friend, when the fangs start to fly. Things come to a head quite quickly. And things don’t slow once they hit a steady clip.
Art by Ben Stenbeck is solid; some fun facial expressions and blood splatters. Typical looking vampires, save for the use of color on them. But hey, they’re still some great looking vampires. This is one of those comics you read, and it makes you just want to go be a badass monster hunter. Although not one with a wooden leg; I imagine that would be a pain in the ass.

Is It Good?
It’s worth a buy. Definitely if you like Mignola, or the time of the plague, or vampiyahs. Solid first issue. The pacing is great, the vampires are green and vicious, and Baltimore kicks serious ass, as per usual. A solid start to an engaging period piece, juxtaposing the plague with vampires.
