If you didn’t already know, WWE Superstar AJ Styles is a huge gamer. In his days on the indies he was known to travel with a portable Xbox gaming setup, and since joining WWE he’s been a frequent guest on Xavier Woods’ hugely popular gaming YouTube show, UpUpDownDown.
Within the last year Styles created his own Twitch channel, where he not only streams his gaming adventures, but frequently interacts with fans and comments on ongoing events within WWE and the wrestling world at large.
Recently the Intercontinental Champion aired his grievances with Paul Heyman on his Twitch channel, calling the legendary manager “a liar,” and explaining to fans that “the reason I went to SmackDown is because I couldn’t stand looking at him.” Both of these statements surround the circumstances in which Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, two of AJ Styles’ closest friends, were released from WWE.
Last night Styles once again made waves in the wrestling world on his Twitch channel by addressing his future with WWE and whether or not he’ll ever work for Tony Khan in AEW.
“As far as AEW is concerned, never say never, right? But I think once my career is done, I’m hopefully just going to work for WWE in some capacity,” said Styles. “What would I do? I’d like to be a recruiter, go scout some guys. I think that would be fun. I would have no problem going to the indies. I know we have scouts going to weightlifting contests and what not to get these big guys.”
WWE could luck out and end up having another all-time great and future hall of famer training the next generation of WWE superstars at their Performance Center in Orlando.
“I want to get guys and girls who have wanted to do this their whole life, give them some advice, check up on them from time to time, and help them get to the next level or the Performance Center. I think that’d be cool, to help somebody and see if they’re coachable,” continued Styles. “A lot of my friends are [in AEW], guys I love, but I know what I’m doing in WWE. I know what’s asked of me and I kind of like that.”
“Change always – some change sucks. You know how one thing is done and the other is not worth the hassle. I don’t need, at least right now, to go anywhere else. So, why would I? But again, never say never.”
