SDCC ’20: Kevin Smith talks ‘Masters of the Universe’, ‘Killroy was Here,’ and more!

Kevin Smith delivered updates on two of his major projects in a one-man panel.

Famed director of and patron saint of San Diego Comic Con Kevin Smith took the virtual stage Saturday night to give his fans an update on  his Masters of the Universe series, Killroy Was Here, and so much more.

Smith began his one-man panel by recapping the stupendous 2019 he had by celebrating his Jay and Silent Bob Reboot tour, that sold 65,000 tickets, and imprinting his hands in the cement outside of the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood. He then brought the audience up to speed regarding his current projects, including his Son-in-Lockdown shorts being featured on TBS’s Celebrity Show-Off (clip seen below), announced a new podcast starring his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, called “Vegan Abattoir”, and announced a limited edition Funko Pop of Iron Bob from Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.

But being an ever faithful member of the comic con cult, Smith knew he had to bring his audience some updates and trailers regarding his many, many projects, and Red Bank’s favorite son didn’t disappoint. Kevin Smith revealed that his Masters of the Universe series will be a sequel to the original ’80s television show, and will be called Masters of The Universe: Revelations. He announced that the series would be a serious take on the classic struggle between He-Man and Skeletor and will seek to honor the original series as opposed to rebooting it with a new interpretation.

Smith, finally, unveiled the trailer for his new horror-comedy movie, Killroy Was Here. The film is directed by Smith himself and crafted in collaboration with students at the Ringling College of Art & Design and is described as an anthology movie is centered on the “Kilroy was here” graffiti drawing. It stars Harley Quinn Smith, Azita Ghandizada, Ryan O’Nan, Chris Jericho, and Justin Kucsulain. The trailer can be seen here:

Smith announced many more endeavors that he is currently involved in and it was wonderful to see Silent Bob thriving. Make sure you watch the entire show and follow along with us at AIPT as Kevin Smith produce his works and gift them unto all of us.
