Marvel Comics made waves via an EW exclusive featuring Russell Dauterman costume designs for the upcoming Hellfire Gala. The designs focused on Cyclops, Rogue, Captain Britain, M, Rachel Summers, Angel, Storm, Jean Grey, Kate Pryde, and three looks for Emma Frost.
“My general thought was that the Gala aesthetic should be high-fashion X-Men costumes (mutant clothes), not high-fashion human clothes,” Dauterman said to EW. “So I looked at a lot of fashion reference, but tried to think, ‘What would the X-costume version of this be?’ The looks reference and take inspiration from couture by Alexander McQueen, Iris van Herpen, Balmain, Moschino, Givenchy, Versace, Gaultier, Gucci, and more. I also drew from the characters’ past costumes.”
The Hellfire Gala apparently is more like the Met Gala and is kicking off in June across multiple books in the X-Men line as well as the giant-sized one-shot issue Planet-Sized X-Men. This is all tied to the #VoteXMen initiative letting fans vote on who they’d like to see as a new member of the X-Men which will officially be made public at the Hellfire Gala.

Emma Frost is my favorite of the bunch. Just look at the diamond heels, the “X” cut out and the poof fur! It screams Emma Frost up and down.
