Jeff Lemire gives details on three new series alongside Substack project ‘Fishflies’

Jeff Lemire detailed three new series in various stages of development.

It goes without saying Jeff Lemire is one of the busiest creators in comics today. Last week he revealed his new series Fishflies was coming to Substack, and today he detailed his newsletter subscribers on three new projects. Outlined in a public post which you can read here, Lemire gave details on these three series while also juggling Fishflies and a television adaptation of Essex County.

Preparation is the mother of manifestation so it seems as Lemire explains having a head start on projects he writes allows him to avoid burnout and writer’s block.

The first series Jeff Lemire detailed is a five-issue Descender follow-up series with Dustin Nguyen. Code-named “Project Concrete,” Lemire said fans can expect the book to launch in March and Nguyen will begin drawing it in October after wrapping up Robin & Batman (More on that book here).

The second is a five-issue sci-fi horror with Gabriel Walta and Jordie Bellaire set for November 2022 at Image Comics. Codenamed “Project Headlights” the series is a genre-bending book and Walta is already underway on that.

Finally, a six-issue series with Andrea Sorrentino is already scripted and in the works. That will follow their series Primordial at Image Comics. Lemire said it, “will be the most ambitious thing he and I have done together.” Considering their work on Gideon Falls and how ambitious that was this is further proof these creators are always pushing the limit with their comics work.

All told, Lemire also said in the newsletter new Black Hammer was on the way too. This is a rough summary of what Lemire said and I recommend checking out the full newsletter for yourself.

You can read Lemire’s latest series Mazebook #1 from Dark Horse Comics out this Wednesday in comic book shops, which Lemire writes and draws.
