Edge takes on Sheamus in what might be his final match in WWE.

WWE SmackDown is live tonight from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and to celebrate his homecoming and 25 years with WWE, Toronto’s own Edge laid down a challenge to Sheamus, a friend who he has never locked up with. Rumors immediately started swirling, and Edge later confirmed that this is the final match in his current contract. Edge added fuel to the fire by telling ET Canada, “I don’t know. I honestly don’t know … I’m going to be 50 in October. It’s not easy anymore. Before, what I used to take for granted to be able to do, now, there is a process and a fallout. There’s a lot. It’s the dream gig, but it’s getting really hard.”

Could this be The Rated R Superstar’s final match? Is Adam Copeland All In? Or will it be business as usual? The road to finding out starts tonight. Let’s take a look at everything announced for tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown:

The Grayson Waller Effect with special guest Rey Mysterio

WWE SmackDown preview, full card: August 18, 2023

WWE’s official preview:

Rey Mysterio is your new United States Champion. The Master of the 619 dethroned Austin Theory to win the stars-and-stripes title, ending the longest U.S. Title reign in a decade.

Mysterio replaced his LWO teammate Santos Escobar after Theory took Escobar out of action with multiple sneak attacks. Despite Theory’s best efforts at getting the night off, WWE Official Adam Pearce made the decision to replace Escobar with Mysterio.

Next week, new U.S. Champion Rey Mysterio will be live on “The Grayson Waller Effect,” with plenty of questions left to be answered.

How will Waller grill the new champion on his show?

Edge vs. Sheamus

WWE SmackDown preview, full card: August 18, 2023

WWE’s official preview:

On this day… we celebrate The Rated-R Superstar!

This week in Toronto, Edge will face Sheamus on The Rated R-Superstar’s 25th Anniversary Special.

Despite both having long tenures in WWE, Edge and The Celtic Warrior have never faced each other one-on-one.

Before Edge first retired in 2011, the two collided a few times in Fatal 4-Way and Multi-Man Tag Team Matches, as well teaming together to face John Cena and Randy Orton, but they’ve never had a singles contest.

All that changes next week when the two WWE Legends stand toe-to-toe. On the Aug. 11 episode of SmackDown, Edge stated his desire to face The Celtic Warrior, thanking Sheamus for being a catalyst leading to Edge’s return to the ring.

Can Edge turn Fight Night into a Rated-R victory?
