#5: G.I. Joe #5

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of March 20, 2025

G.I. Joe #5 is a blast from start to finish. It pays off plot threads that have been building up since the series’ start, and teases a confrontation that fans have been waiting for. Given the amount of care the creative team have put into this comic so far, they’ll definitely deliver once again.

Waid and Samnee are taking us back to the early days of the dynamic duo, and their unique touch enriches this era. The series wonderfully explores the growing relationship between Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson, capturing the growing pains they face as they learn to work together not just as crime-fighters, but as a family. Waid’s heartfelt script comes alive through Samnee’s stunning artwork, showcasing the passion and determination that drive them to seek justice.

#2: Absolute Batman #6

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of March 20, 2025

Absolute Batman #6 is a masterwork of action storytelling. The first arc of one of the best comics today ends with a big bang, from which future villains await on the horizon. Everyone in this creative team is at their peak. It moves at a rapid pace and never drags. We’ll have to see if this relentless momentum will prove to be its strength… or its bane. Still, I can’t help but be excited for the next arc.

#1: Absolute Flash #1

Fantastic Five: Best comics of the week of March 20, 2025

Absolute Flash offers something different than what we’ve seen from all other Absolute titles thus far. Absolute Wally is unsure of himself, has seemingly no desire to be a hero, and is all alone. This continues to show how the heroes of the Absolute Universe will have to push themselves further than the versions we are familiar with when embracing their destiny.
