Best comics of the week: May 6, 2026
#5: Tales of the Green Lantern Corps: Guy Gardner #1
‘Tales of the Green Lantern Corps: Guy Gardner’ #1 is a fun character-driven spotlight
Tales of the Green Lantern Corps: Guy Gardner #1 delivers a fun and character-driven spotlight that balances humor, action, and surprising emotional depth. Gerry Duggan leans into Guy’s abrasive personality while giving him enough humanity to make the story land. The dynamic between Guy and John Stewart adds weight, and the creative art team keeps the visuals lively throughout. It may not redefine the character, but it is an entertaining and worthwhile read for Green Lantern fans.

#4: Fantastic Four #10
While the ending was, in some ways, expected, that makes it no less one of the most exciting books currently coming out of Marvel. Every month, North’s Fantastic Four feels like a perfect mesh of the cosmic wonder, fantastical science-fiction and down-to-earth family that encompasses the First Family.

#3: Absolute Green Lantern #14
‘Absolute Green Lantern’ #14 is a brilliant journey in space
If you’ve hesitated to pick up Absolute Green Lantern, or you’ve fallen a bit behind (no shame!), I cannot encourage everyone enough to read it. With the understanding of the core of each character placed into the Absolute universe, Ewing plays with character identities that would normally not receive the same amount of care and attention in the main universe. Absolute Green Lantern is the under-sung joy of the Absolute Universe.

#2: Daredevil #2
Daredevil #2 delivers a surprisingly solid sophomore issue, as it further expands the web of mystery and menace surrounding Matt Murdock. We might be two issues in, but this creative team is clearly working hard to give fans a Daredevil story that actually feels fresh.

#1: If Destruction Be Our Lot #1
‘If Destruction Be Our Lot’ #1 is witty, well-crafted, and immerses you in its world
Another thing to love about If Destruction Be Our Lot #1 is that it follows the current Image trend of delivering a massive-sized debut issue. Not only are you getting 52 pages worth of story, but it’s a story that actually feels worth that page count and price, which is fairly rare these days. If Destruction Be Our Lot #1 presents a truly unique angle on the idea of artificial intelligence with a story that’s witty, wise, and well-crafted, and might provide Image Comics with yet another fan-favorite series.
