Star Wars: The Last Jedi: New images raise the question, 'Could Supreme Leader Snoke be the First Jedi?'

Since he first appeared on the big screen as an ominous gigantic hologram, fans have been asking the question, just who is Supreme Leader Snoke? Where does he come from? How did he get horribly scarred? How did he seduce Ben Solo to the dark side? The list of questions goes on and on and on with countless theories around his identity and powers circulating the internet.

With The Last Jedi nearly upon us, you’d think the theories would die down as excitement for seeing the film is reaching its peak. Everyone expects a lot of these questions to be answered in four short days, not through yet another fan theory. Right? Well if you’re of the same line of thinking as me, you’d be dead wrong.

A fan on Reddit has pieced together a theory that Snoke could be the first Jedi. The Force Awakens ends with Luke and Rey on the planet of Ahch-To, the location of the very first Jedi Temple and a book that could quite possibly be the legendary Journal of the Whills. But we already know this. What a lot of fans don’t know is the film companion Visual Dictionary (available Dec 15th) provides a look at the floor of the temple, which has a mosaic featuring a figure supposed to be the Prime Jedi, the very first of the Jedi Order.

Not only does the gold design matches Snoke’s outfit for the film, but the sunken eyes and bulbous head resemble his face pretty closely. Snoke’s obsession with destroying the last Jedi adds to the theory. Could we see the first ever Jedi battle the last Jedi? I sure as hell hope so. Fanboy moment aside the theory is thought provoking in that it could provide a serious struggle of convictions for Luke, as well as explain how Ben was swayed to becoming Kylo Ren.

In four short days we just might find out.
