Ronda Rousey was suspended from Monday Night Raw a few weeks ago for going berserk and attacking Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, General Manager Kurt Angle and several referees, but apparently that won’t stop her from being in attendance for Extreme Rules on July 15. In an interview with Renee Young, Rousey revealed she intends on being there — as a fan.
“Even though I’m suspended from Raw, I’m not suspended from Extreme Rules. So, I’m going to be buying a ticket. It’s going to be a front row ticket,” Rousey explained.
The “wrestler who’s barred from ringside but circumvents that by buying a front row ticket” trope is one of wrestling’s oldest and best. This way, Rousey can interfere in the match just through the virtue of MIND GAMES, another pro wrestling staple. We haven’t seen this trope in WWE in quite some time, unless you count John “I have no clear path to WrestleMania” Cena, but that was under slightly different circumstances.
Will Extreme Rules‘ most important attendee factor into the outcome of the Raw Women’s Championship match between Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax? Only time will tell, but now that she’ll be spectating the match up close and personal, all signs point to yes.
