Jonathan Hickman is coming to X-Men Monday – Plus, new ‘House of X’ and ‘Powers of X’ details revealed

The Age of Hickman approaches.

Following “X-Men Day,” a special day no one knew existed until there was an X-Men movie to promote, Marvel finally revealed new details about writer Jonathan Hickman’s upcoming House of X and Powers of X mini-series, via an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com. In the conversation, Hickman confirmed much of what X-Fans had already assumed, while shedding new light on what the House of Ideas refers to as “the next seminal moment in the history of the X-Men.”

“One, House of X, is a story about a pivotal month in the history of the X-Men where everything changes for mutants on Earth,” Hickman told the source. “And the other, Powers of X, is a story about the history of mutants in the Marvel Universe. It works as a series of reveals and revelations where each issue of HOX that follows POX — and vice versa — makes you reinterpret the issue you had previously read. And then, obviously, at the end they crash together in a way that propels us forward into a new X-Universe.”

As these mini-series kick off, the X-Line as fans know it will come to a close. Uncanny X-Men writer Matthew Rosenberg confirmed on Twitter that the recently relaunched flagship X-Title will end with #22.

“Some will be traditional fare, some carry through on ideas presented in HOX and POX,” Hickman said of the new series that will spin out of HOX and POX. “Some books are completely new concepts. I, personally, will be writing the ongoing flagship X-book.”

X-Fans won’t have to wait long for more details on the next big X-Era, though, as Jonathan Hickman is set to overhaul AiPT!’s X-Men Monday feature May 20… just for one week.
