Dark Horse Comics giving away 80 free digital first issues

Try out 80 series now, courtesy of Dark Horse.

In a media release yesterday, Dark Horse Comics announced that it would be giving away 80 first issues (and a few graphic novels) for free during the entire month of April on its digital service.

The statement reads in part:

From now until April 30, 2020, enjoy the work of an array of writers and artists in stories ranging from Umbrella Academy, Witchfinder, Stranger Things and American Gods, to young readers selections like Disney’s Frozen and Itty Bitty Mask, to graphic novels like Hellboy Volume 1: Seed of Destruction, Beasts of Burden Volume 1, and Empowered Volume 1! To see the full list, visit digital.darkhorse.com.

To start reading, just sign up for free at digital.darkhorse.com with a valid email address, no credit card required.

For fans who read digital comics on Comixology or other platforms, don’t worry, we have you covered. The same issues will be free to read wherever you enjoy Dark Horse digital comics.

Stay home. Stay safe. Read comics.

On one hand, it’s great that you don’t have sign up with a credit card. I’m one of the many people who’s signed up for a free trail of something only to forget and get charged for it the next month.

On the other hand, it might be tough to read the start of a bunch of stories without getting to move on, especially if you’re not in a financial position to buy new comics right now. If you are, though, then there are some really good series to check out. Harrow County is particularly good if you’re looking for a fantastic horror read.

And don’t overlook those free first volumes, either. If you haven’t read Hellboy: Seed of Destruction or B.P.R.D.: Plague of Frogs, then you’re in for a real treat. For me personally, I can’t wait to finally check out the entire Beasts of Burden miniseries along with the first issue of Department H.

What will you be reading from Dark Horse this month?
