Humanoids’ ‘Space Bastards’ arrives this January from ‘The Boys’ artist

An ‘intergalactic, kickass romp’ arrives this January.

Press Release

Humanoids has today announced the upcoming release of Space Bastards, a new series by The Boys artist Darick Roberston and writers Eric Peterson and Joe Aubrey. They describe the series thusly:

Violence is everywhere. Corporations are exploiting the weak and disenfranchised. And while America has taken to the cosmos, scientific advancements and technology have outpaced civilization as we know it. Even getting mail between planets is damn near impossible. Enter the Intergalactic Postal Service, a deadly organization with a brutal, mercenary business model. Whoever delivers the package gets the cash. And every delivery can be made by any means necessary.

(October 1, 2020) Humanoids, the Los Angeles-based publisher of some of the world’s most iconic and groundbreaking science fiction and fantasy graphic novels, is launching a kickass, intergalactic story like none other: SPACE BASTARDS. The Boys artist Darick Roberston and writers Eric Peterson and Joe Aubrey team up to unleash the galaxy’s most vicious and depraved…postal couriers?

In SPACE BASTARDS, violence is everywhere.

“I have long admired Humanoids for the quality material they publish. I guess it was time to lower the bar,” said co-creator and artist Darick Roberston. “SPACE BASTARDS is a longtime brainchild of Eric Peterson and Joe Aubrey, their labor of love that I brought my own brand of crazy to with my character designs and storytelling. It’s a fun world, where things like science don’t get in the way of the fiction. It’s a wild ride.”

SPACE BASTARDS kicks off in January with the seven-part monthly “Tooth and Mail” arc by series co-creators Roberston, Peterson, and Aubrey. “Darick Robertson’s art for the seven-part story ‘Tooth and Mail’ is gritty, sleazy and hyper violent,” said Eric Peterson. “It really sets the tone for the series.”

Later in the year, writers Eric Peterson and Joe Aubrey will be joined by all-star artists Simon Bisley (Lobo) and Clint Langley (2000AD) for a series of high-octane SPACE BASTARDS specials, a single one-shot followed by two annuals. “The standalone format of the upcoming SPACE BASTARDS specials allows us to really showcase the individual storytelling strengths of these amazing artists,” said co-creator and co-writer Joe Aubrey.

In SPACE BASTARDS, David S. Proton is a meek, unemployed accountant desperate for money. David  joins the Intergalactic Postal Service only to be paired with Manny Corns (a.k.a. “The Manicorn”), a sardonic brute who thrives on the competition provided by the company. And things only get worse from there.

Originally funded on Kickstarter, SPACE BASTARDS has generated plenty of buzz for its larger-than-life cast and their death defying antics:

“Injected with a rowdy cocktail of hyper-violent sci-fi thrills and a wicked sense of humor… Space Bastards is burning up the comics scene featuring an all-star roster of talent.” — SYFY WIRE

“Space Bastards is the cultivation of industry giants coming together to construct a reality based in blood, booze, and rock-n-roll.” — BLEEDING COOL

The mega-sized, 44-page first issue of SPACE BASTARDS drops on Wednesday, January 13.
