This Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam card just got one match smaller, as WWE announced today on The Bump that Riddle sustained an injury on Raw that will prevent him from competing at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
“After that attack on Riddle by Seth Rollins on Monday, Riddle has suffered a brachial plexus injury, which is a really bad stinger that has resulted in some significant weakness,” Kayla Braxton explained. “As of now, he is medically disqualified until full strength returns. As a result of this, we can officially break here that Seth “Freakin'” Rollins vs. Riddle at SummerSlam has been postponed.”
The word “postponed” is interesting here, as WWE would normally just say a Superstar is unable to compete and leave it at that. A postponement suggests the match will be rescheduled for a later date.
Seth Rollins responded to the news in a tweet, framing it in a way that suggests the match was simply pulled. The tweet reads:
For anyone who purchased a ticket to #SummerSlam hoping to see me in action, I apologize. I did everything I could over the last 6 months to earn my spot on this show, but some things are out of my control. Thank you for always singing my song. They’ll hear ya someday.
SummerSlam is scheduled to go down Saturday, July 30 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
