Nathan Fielder’s latest bonkers meta series, The Rehearsal, has been picked up for a second season by HBO.
Fielder, whose bizarre brand of comedy gained prominence through his Comedy Central series Nathan For You in the mid-2010s, continues to bend genres and realities in his latest show. The Rehearsal is predicated on one central idea: what if everything in life could be rehearsed beforehand? It’s a simple enough premise, but one that Fielder characteristically takes completely out of hand, recreating bars down to the finest detail to help people practice difficult conversations, simulating parenting a child from age 0 to 18 in the span of a couple of weeks, and other insane situations.
No description of the show will do it justice – it must be experienced first-hand to truly understand.
Nathan has sparked such a lively conversation with ‘The Rehearsal,’” said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming. “We have no idea where Season 2 will take us, and that is the delight of this boundary-pushing show from a truly singular talent.”
Season 1 of The Rehearsal concludes tonight, August 19 on HBO.
