AEW Double or Nothing 2024 card and predictions

The Bang Bang Gang (c) vs. Death Triangle for the Unified AEW World Trios Championship

AEW Double or Nothing 2024 full card, how to watch, predictions

Darius: I mean, just off the entrance alone, I’d be down to give Death Triangle every trios title ever invented, and it’s not like the AEW nor (Tony Khan’s) ROH Trios Championships were immune to being hot-potatoed. However, my point carries over from the last pay-per-view: Jay White should generally be either a champion or chasing a belt, and I’m not sure exactly what he would be doing without his current title. It doesn’t feel right predicting Pac to lose both of his first two pay-per-view matches post-injury, but when I think about the moving parts surrounding the upcoming Forbidden Door show, it only makes this prediction feel safer. Guns up.
Winners: Bang Bang Gang

Shane: I really don’t have a preference with who wins this match. Either way, the Trios Championships are one of these belts/divisions in AEW that could disappear and I wouldn’t miss it. With that said, the match itself will be great, as most are in AEW. Because the Bang Bang Gang is a more comedy-oriented group, I can see then their title reign getting a little more juice and intrigue out of the trios belts than the Death Triangle.
Winners: Bang Bang Gang

Jay: This is going to be a banger! I love Jay White. I love Death Triangle. They’re going to go all out and it should be great. But, I expect the Bang Bang Gang to take it.
Winners: Bang Bang Gang

Roderick Strong (c) vs. Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship

AEW Double or Nothing 2024 full card, how to watch, predictions

Darius: The International Championship is what I think of when people say the man makes the belt. Rather than legitimize someone, I think this belt’s purpose is to keep an over person busy, and through that lens, there’s no better choice for champion than Will Ospreay. If we’re letting Swerve’s title run breathe at the top of the card, let Ospreay put his own spin on Orange Cassidy’s old spot. Let Will wrestle everyone on the roster, from your Dante Martins to your Penta El 0Ms, and give each of those matches a purpose. Roddy is a great wrestler, but he doesn’t help with the International Championship’s identity problem. Ospreay might not fix that problem either, but at least being “Ospreay’s belt” is better than just being “the other midcard belt.”
Winner: Will Ospreay

Shane: Everybody has to lose their first match eventually, and Sunday might just be that night for Will Ospreay. While it might not make total sense, this is AEW and we have seen crazier things happen. Ospreay loses and then can slowly shift into a world title program with Swerve that’ll crescendo nicely into an Ospreay title win at Wembley in August.
Winner: Roderick Strong

Jay: So I went to the dentist today. I had to get a root canal re-treatment a couple of weeks ago and the dentist was repairing the crown that he drilled through. So, he used the drill to take out the temporary filling and placed the permanent one. I actually had the rest of the day off from work after that but I decided to go back in because I had nothing else better to do. I thought about texting a friend for dinner but decided not to and went to the gym in my apartment building. I then had some yogurt. You’re probably asking yourself why I am detailing the banalities of my day to you but I guarantee you it’s more relevant to the wrestling world than the Intercontinental title and you will remember this more than, well, anything associated with the belt. Do you remember how Mox was champion for a bit? No. And that was Jon Moxley. Nor did you even notice I purposely called the International title the Intercontinental title a few sentences ago.
Winner: Will Ospreay

“Timeless” Toni Storm (c) vs. Serena Deeb for the AEW Women’s World Championship

AEW Double or Nothing 2024 full card, how to watch, predictions

Darius: My chaotic little heart almost dares Tony Khan to put the belt on Serena Deeb. I don’t know how over Deeb is with the crowd (that’s not willful ignorance; it’s TBS’s poor audio mixing at work), but she’s a tremendous wrestler, so it’s not like match quality would suffer for her holding the big one. That being said, come on. If Toni Storm is going to lose her championship, it’s either going to be against a wrestler of the same level or to elevate someone on the cusp of that top level. Deeb is a dark horse and a great wrestler, but if I have to guess who’s winning, it’s not really a question.
Winner: Serena Deeb

Shane: Toni has been a fantastic women’s champion for AEW and it still feels like there is some steam left in the tank. I keep going back to Wembley, but it kinda feels like All In has become the AEW equivalent to WrestleMania and much like WrestleMania, I think we are going to save the major title changes till that time.
Winner: “Timeless” Toni Storm

Jay: Toni Storm is the strongest character on AEW and she isn’t losing that belt anytime soon. This will be a great match to remind us all that Toni is a great wrestler underneath the gimmick but that’s all it will be.
Winner: “Timeless” Toni Storm

Adam Copeland (c) vs. Malakai Black for the TNT Championship (Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match)

AEW Double or Nothing 2024 full card, how to watch, predictions

Darius: A lot of people have hot takes about Malakai Black and his place on the AEW roster, and maybe I’d agree with them if he loses this match. Generally speaking, though, I think Malakai Black is someone who has been made to look pretty strong and cunning thus far in AEW, and winning the TNT Championship right now seems like a natural progression for him. Copeland seems like a selfless guy, so I feel like he wants to give his big title loss to someone younger who could use the legitimacy. Malakai Black isn’t the youngest guy, but he does still check both of those boxes, and I could certainly see Sunday being a statement win for the former Tommy End.
Winner: Malakai Black

Shane: Malakai Black hasn’t held singles gold since the NXT Championship all the way back in 2018. That’s six years too long and it’s time that steak comes to an end. The former Edge is all about giving the rub to younger up and coming talent and while Malakai Black isn’t the youngest member of the AEW roster, he is a member of the roster that could use some legitimizing, as sad as that is to say. Malakai wins Sunday night and will do great things with the TNT Championship moving forward.
Winner: Malakai Black

Jay: Listen, I don’t get what the deal is with Malakai, but if the rumors are true, I agree with it. It seems like he is spinning his wheels till his contract runs out and if you can believe it, it has already been almost three years and avoiding doing jobs. This way he gets paid, keeps his mystique and stature, and then can go back WWE in a better position for more money. Not a bad move. There is no shame in losing to Adam Copeland though. This will be a great match and honestly, I am most excited about it on the card. I actually think Malakai will take it and I hope it prompts him to have a more meaningful role on AEW television.
Winner: Malakai Black

Jon Moxley vs. Konosuke Takeshita (IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Eliminator Match)

AEW Double or Nothing 2024 full card, how to watch, predictions

Darius: I genuinely thought (and still kind of believe) that Takeshita would be taking this one because it’s non-title, specifically thinking that Moxley would go on to face Takeshita for the title at a New Japan show later. DDT and New Japan aren’t exactly enemy companies, so it seemed within the realm of possibility. Then I thought more about it, and not only would it be a little weird for a New Japan show to be headlined by an AEW guy taking on a DDT guy (even though, arguably, it’s a New Japan guy vs. an AEW guy), but Moxley is also already scheduled for an upcoming title match in Japan. I doubt New Japan lets him lose before that, but I’d love to be wrong!
Winner: Jon Moxley

Shane: As much as I love and am still firmly behind Takeshita, I have learned a long time ago that you do not bet against Jon Moxley.
Winner: Jon Moxley

Jay: I don’t see it with Takeshita. Sure, he’s great in the ring but, eh. He seems to be bored as well. Don Callis is also the shits. This is his last hope. I can see him beating Mox to give him a shot in the arm but NJPW may not be interested in giving Takeshita a look.
Winner: Takeshita

Trent Beretta vs. Orange Cassidy

AEW Double or Nothing 2024 full card, how to watch, predictions

Darius: Between New Japan and AEW, every company seems to want to get that big Trent Beretta push off the ground. Now that it’s here, I think AEW is going to let Trent take out his surprisingly protected former Best Friend on pay-per-view. I have literally NO idea about where Tony Khan and company go from there, but I’m at least confident that Trent will start out as a winner.
Winner: Trent Beretta

Shane: In order to solidify a major heel turn, you have to give the heels some major victories. I do believe that Tony understands this and if Trent is to be taken seriously moving forward, he needs to not only defeat Orange Cassidy, he needs to do so definitively.
Winner: Trent Beretta

Jay: They have been teasing this for like two years. I had started to lose hope but so far, so good. Trent needs to beat OC here.
Winner: Trent Beretta

Chris Jericho (c) vs. Hook vs. Katsuyori Shibata for the FTW Championship (FTW Rules)

AEW Double or Nothing 2024 full card, how to watch, predictions

Darius: For the second pay-per-view in a row, I’m stuck looking at a match that only makes sense to me if the wrong guy wins. I don’t see anything actively positive about this whole storyline (e.g., how does it get Hook, Shibata, or even Big Bill over?), but alas, we’re in too deep, now. Hook winning makes this whole thing pointless. Shibata winning just doesn’t seem like an option. And then there’s the filthy, dirty, disgusting, bottom-feeding, trash bag Learning Tree, with his recent title win, new gimmick, and new follower. It has to be this way.
Winner: Chris Jericho, unfortunately

Shane: I’m going to go with my gut, and my gut says Hook. So, Hook.
Winner: Hook

Jay: UGHHHH, WHYYYYYY. STOOPPPP!
Winner: Jericho

Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Mercedes Moné for the TBS Championship

AEW Double or Nothing 2024 full card, how to watch, predictions

Darius: I’m drawing a line in the sand. Sure, the fact that it’s Mercedes’ debut, Mercedes is the bigger name, and Willow got the better of Mercedes in their contract signing all point to a very, very sad night for Willow Nightingale fans, but I refuse to believe it! Willow is going to beat Mercedes and make the CEO go mask-off as a full-blown heel, okay? Mercedes is not going to cheat against Willow, and Mercedes certainly isn’t going to win clean. Willow is 100% going to beat Mercedes. We have to believe.
Winner: Willow Nightingale

Shane: A Mercedes Moné victory has been set in stone since the minute she made her debut and name-checked Willow that night in Boston. TK could be cheeky and give us that Willow swerve victory, but considering it’s Mercedes she’s in the ring with, I doubt that will happen.
Winner: Mercedes Moné

Jay: Game time. AEW has bet it all on Moné. I have faith that Moné can do it as well. But, does Moné want to do it? She doesn’t really seem to be all-in (pun intended) on AEW and it shows. She’s here for the match and she’s here for the angle but, those serve her purposes. I think this will be a great match but I just don’t see her wanting to build the division the way she says she does. We’ll see and I am often wrong.
Winner: Mercedes Moné

The New Elite vs. Bryan Danielson, FTR, and Darby Allin (Anarchy in the Arena)

AEW Double or Nothing 2024 full card, how to watch, predictions

Darius: First, I generally always rock with the established team as the winners of any match where one team is entirely makeshift. FTR are arguably the best tag team in the world. Bryan is inarguably the best wrestler in the world. Darby is scrappier than Jungle Boy will every be. Still, it’s the New Elite, a team who has been hyping each other up for weeks and are in it for the long haul. This will be a huge win for the fledgling quartet, and it will likely be the start of a long run of wins for these four men.
Winners: The Elite

Shane: Has a babyface team ever won Anarchy in the Arena? I know they haven’t for the last two years. And I don’t see that trend ending anytime soon. This stipulation is made for a heel victory.
Winners: The Elite

Jay: The Elite will take it. They have the hottest angle in the company and they need this win to truly solidify themselves as a power. There is so much more upside to them winning here than vice-versa so I expect them to take it.
Winners: The Elite

Swerve Strickland (c) vs. Christian Cage for the AEW World Championship

Darius: I mean there’s no shot. Literally no chance Swerve is losing this match and having it make sense. I don’t even know how to spin it like Christian has a shot.
Winner: Swerve Strickland

Shane: I have to agree with Darius. Completely. Christian doesn’t have a shot.
Winner: Swerve Strickland

Jay: This will be a great first title defense feud for Swerve. It will help establish him as a true champion and a ring general like Christian will make Swerve better.
Winner: Swerve Strickland
