[Fantasia ’24] Fantasia Announces Wave Two Films

Games of Thrones and werewolf fans have their dream movie.

A few weeks ago, the Fantasia Film Festival announced their first wave of titles. The list included a remake of 1980s cult horror classic Witchboard, single location thriller Confession, and the J-horror influenced This Man. The second round includes the latest from Elijah Wood and Kit Harrington. Plus, the Canadian Trailblazer Award will be presented to Vicenzo Natali, the director behind 1997’s Cube.

Fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones and werewolves are in for a treat as Harrington stars in The Beast Within. The plot follows a young girl who learns that her father turns into a monster once a month. Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) has a number of strong genre titles in her resume. This year, she comes to Fantasia with Azarel, a post-apocalyptic revenge thriller. Winner of the SXSW Midnighter Audience Award, Oddity is one of the most imaginative and scariest movies of the year. The film is about a blind medium who is able to discover the truth behind her sister’s death with the help of a frightening wooden mannequin.

The 28th edition of Fantasia promises to be a treat for genre fans. There will be horror, science fiction, and anime with countries from around the world being represented. As usual, there will be something for everyone at one of the most exciting film fests of the year. The full lineup will be announced July 3rd.

The Fantasia International Film Festival takes places from July 18 – August 4. The full lineup will be announced July 3. Check out the latest news HERE
