Disney Branded Television announces Moon Girl short form series, ‘Young Jedi Adventures’ season 2 premiere date, and more

Disney Branded Television news from the Annecy International Film Festival.

The Annecy Festival is a great event for studios to showcase and announce their upcoming animated projects. Disney Branded Television used the opportunity to share news and first looks about their slate of programming.

Marvel fans can expect more Lunella Lafayette in the new shorts series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: Moon Girl’s Lab. It is a new musical S.T.E.M. focused short form show where Moon Girl uses scientific concepts to help take down the bad guys. She explores topics such as adaptations, states of matter, plants, force and motion, light, echolocation, and coding. It will premiere Friday, June 28, on Disney Channel and Disney Channel YouTube, with all eight shorts dropping on Disney+ the same day.

For the aspiring Padawan, get ready for the new season of Young Jedi Adventures. Disney Branded Television announced that season two will arrive later this summer on August 14 on both Disney+ and Disney Junior. “In the new season, Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs are ready for more adventures! Dressed in their new mission gear, the young heroes will embark on even bigger missions across the galaxy as they continue their Jedi training.”

If you’re looking for a spooky comedy, The Doomies might be up your alley. Best friends Bobby and Romy accidentally open up a portal between the underworld and their quiet coastal hometown unleashing terrifying creatures upon their community. They soon find themselves entangled in a monster mystery as they try to fix their mistake. Though we don’t have access to the exclusive first look at the Annecy Festival, we do have some key art below.

There were other news and notes from Disney Branded Television from the event. Big City Greens was renewed for its fifth season. They showed clips and the main title theme songs for Disney Jr.’s Ariel, Kindergarten: The Musical, and Stugo

New projects include the short form Superkitties: Su-purr Adventures and the holiday special Prep & Landing: The Snowball Protocol. The former is inspired by and features characters from the preschool series SuperKitties. It premieres Wednesday, August 7, on Disney Jr. and Disney Channel and next day, Thursday, August 8, on Disney+ and Disney Jr. YouTube. The latter continues the exploits of the high tech team of elves from the unit known as Prep and Landing and debuts next year.
