Black Eyed Susan is a Fantasia world premiere that brings science fiction, AI, and sex together in an uncomfortable mix that may be closer to reality than anyone wants to believe. Derek has been hired by a shady tech industrialist to test a life like robot named Susan that was built to receive and enjoy sexual abuse. Initially reluctant, Derek eventually agrees. This soon leads to a deeper attraction.
Filmmaker Scooter McCrae takes on bold subject matter in a story that examines the shocking lengths men will go in order to satisfy their desires. On its surface, Black Eyed Susan sounds like some of the women hating exploitation films of the 1970s or the harem anime of today that is made purely for fanservice. But, the underlying tale about humanity and affection hint at something deeper.
The first trailer is a disturbing one that pulls no punches. Black Eyed Susan may end up being the most provocative film to screen at Fantasia this year.
The Fantasia International Film Festival takes places from July 18 – August 4. The full lineup will be announced July 3. Check out the latest news HERE
