‘X-Men of Apocalypse’ #2 covers reveal classic X-Men vs. war-torn survivors

Check out the covers for X-MEN OF APOCALYPSE #2, on sale in December.

This Wednesday, the Age of Apocalypse makes its long-awaited comeback! To mark the 30th anniversary of the groundbreaking ’90s crossover, Marvel is launching X-Men of Apocalypse, a six-issue epic from legendary writer Jeph Loeb—one of the architects of the original event—joined by Eisner-nominated artist Simone Di Meo. The saga kicks off in X-Men of Apocalypse Alpha #1, runs through X-Men of Apocalypse #1-4, and concludes with X-Men of Apocalypse Omega #1.

Set in the fallout of the original event, the story follows the battle-hardened X-Men of Apocalypse as they enter the main Marvel Universe to secure their world’s survival. Their mission brings them into conflict not only with the classic X-Men but also fellow Age of Apocalypse survivor Nate Grey, aka X-Man. To succeed, this team of war-forged mutants must journey back to the foundation of mutantkind itself—meeting none other than the Original Silver Age X-Men!

X-Men of Apocalypse #2, arriving in December, features a main cover by Di Meo, with striking variants from Arthur Adams, Russell Dauterman, Stephen Platt, Joshua “Sway” Swaby, and a special contribution from Joe Madureira. Returning to the franchise for the first time in decades, Madureira celebrates his co-creation Blink with a dynamic variant—also available in a virgin edition.

Loeb reflected on the project:

“It’s so much fun revisiting the very first issue of the X-Men from 1963. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were at the height of their powers, creating icons that still dominate pop culture today. The original cast was young and full of hope, which makes their clash with the X-Men of Apocalypse—who know only war and death—so astonishing. Whatever happens, this one counts!”

Check out the newly revealed covers and grab X-Men of Apocalypse Alpha #1 when it hits shops this week!
