Mike Mignola is teaming with Rae Allen (The Manderfield Devil, Town with a Million Eyes) for a supernatural Western that expands the Hellboy Universe. Titled Carmen Red Claw: Belly of the Beast, the four-issue series blends classic folklore with the Mignolaverse, connecting to Lobster Johnson’s legacy. Co-written by Mignola and Allen, with art by Allen, colors from Michelle Madsen, and letters by Clem Robins.
So what’s Carmen Red Claw about?
Carmen Red Claw, a descendant of the infamous El Bogavante, roams the 1870s New Mexico territory as a shapeshifting gun-for-hire. Her latest job brings her to a cursed ranch where cattle are being slaughtered—possibly by something otherworldly, possibly by something worse. Covers will feature Allen, with variants from Mignola, Jake Parker, Tonci Zonjic, and Benjamin Schipper.
