That makes this a must read–Slott is so very good at planning out his books years in advance. Along with Mike Allred, he’s also very good at capturing the wonderment and fun of the cosmic universe. It’s filled with color, life, and wacky ideas that make the Marvel universe more fun than ever.
So what’s it about?
The official summary reads:

Fine, you have my attention. What’s good about it?
Surf is up dudes!
What a fun issue, in part because the pace is so fast and the purpose behind it all so delectable. Slott opens this issue with Dawn’s twin sister on her way to give birth. Dawn senses this and presses Silver Surfer to rush back to Earth so she won’t miss the delivery. That’s easier said than done, with cosmic threats and heroic deeds all in need of Silver Surfer’s help. Once again there are a ton of wacky space ideas in this issue, including a fun war between rivals Earthlings would understand. There’s also a recurring character which ends up building towards a hilarious moment later on in the issue. The reason Slott asked his readers to not read anything about this issue may be due to the cliffhanger, which will most likely shake up Silver Surfer and Dawn’s life forever.
Allred once again kills it on art. There’s so much to love here, from wacky alien designs to a believable asteroid field. Laura Allred continues to color this book with the care and creativity one would expect from an art gallery showing. There’s one full page spread in particular that uses mostly white to convey cosmic power in a serious way that shouldn’t be missed. I’m a sucker for purple, and boy is there a lot of it in the cosmos. Like his work in Bug! The Adventures of Forager, Allred also has the tendency to block out fight sequences in a way that has characters spilling into each other, which also appears here. It’s a retro look that gives his cel-shaded style a bit more energy.
What fun!
It can’t be perfect can it?
It’s hard to find faults with any of this really, though the love affair is put on hold so if you’re reading this for the romantic relationship you might be slightly disappointed. Overall though, it has everything the series is known for and then some.
Is It Good?
Simply put, this is a delicious serving of good vibes via visuals and fun ideas.
