AiPT! has learned that this August Marvel will be releasing Star Wars: Rogue One — Cassian & K-2SO Special #1!
To say we’re excited would be an understatement. Cassian & K-2SO are without question counted among the best new characters that Disney has introduced to the new Star Wars universe. For those of you out there who wanted to know more about the origin of these two Rebel Alliance heroes, the wait is almost over.
The story will be written by Duane Swierczynski (Cable, Punisher: Frank Castle) with art by Fernando Blanco (Marvel Zombies, Thunderbolts). In the 40-page one-shot, readers learn will how Cassian, a top Rebel intelligence officer, met K-2SO, an Imperial security droid.

“When I first heard about ROGUE ONE, I was thrilled,” said series writer Duane Swierczynski. “A heist movie set in the Star Wars universe? Are you kidding? Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be invited to tell a small piece of that story. And it was even cooler that I was asked to write about the first meeting of Cassian and K-2SO — easily my two favorite characters in the movie. What can I say? I love bad-asses and robots.”
