May 23, 2018’s 5 in 5: The five comic books you should buy this week

It’s a bittersweet week in comics, as Brian Michael Bendis’s legendary run with Marvel Comics comes to an end.

It’s a bittersweet week in comics, as Brian Michael Bendis’s legendary run with Marvel Comics comes to an end. He says farewell in Invincible Iron Man #600, which naturally grabs the top spot in this week’s edition of 5 in 5, where we break down the five comic books that need to be on your pull list this week in (around) five minutes.

Another farewell also happens this week, as James Tynion IV says goodbye to the Bat-family in Detective Comics #981. But it’s also a week of new beginnings, as Black Panther reverts to a brand new numbering with Black Panther #1, written by Ta-Nehisi Coates.

It’s not just a big week for the Big Two, either — Delta 13 from IDW Publishing, written by Steve Niles and drawn by Nat Jones, kicks off this week, and Aftershock Comics’ Brothers Dracul hits issue #2.
