Hunt For Wolverine Adamantium Agenda #2 Review

Will Iron Man and Spider-Man find Wolverine? Find out here.

I wasn’t sure about the cliffhanger of the first issue in this 4 part miniseries, but given the talent behind it, I had to read issue #2. That issue is out today as Iron Man, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Spider-Man continue to hunt Wolverine.

So what’s it about?

Read the preview.

Why does this matter?

This is one of a few other miniseries that are piecing together where Wolverine is and the mission to find him. If you dig that character you should enjoy these as each one taps into some past Wolverine stories so as to find clues and find Logan.

Fine, you have my attention. What’s good about it?

Nice panel with the hand.

This issue opens with a flashback to “years ago” during a time when Spider-Man and Wolverine were on the Avengers. In these scenes, we learn Logan made Tony promise him something which ties into the lifeblood of this adventure. Iron Man will do whatever it takes to make sure Logan’s DNA isn’t used by anyone. This helps catch readers up who didn’t read the first issue and gives a nice scene to those who have.

The rest of the issue takes place in the now on a submarine under the ocean. The heroes are attending a private auction and just found out Luke and Jessica’s baby’s DNA is for sale. Taylor infuses these scenes with great humor (like the masks they wear) and eventually brings it around to Logan’s DNA. As they attempt to flee a supervillain who shows up (and close up a hole in the submarine using a surprising stopgap) the plot thickens. Laura Wolverine fans will wanna stay till the end.

Silva does good work here making the jokes land and the characters look accurate. The opening scenes are the best with a shocking twist or two all cast in a strange green glow due to some toxins floating about. There’s some dramatic tension done well too like a shadowing hand of Logan popping out.

That has to hurt.

It can’t be perfect can it?

This issue is quite a quick read and there isn’t a whole lot to it. The opening probably didn’t need to be 7 pages long given the revelation and plot developments. The rest of the book is slower paced too dragging out the auction. The last 7 pages are basically a fight, a joke, and a reveal and not much more. I liked the book, but it’s dragging out.

Is it good?

A good issue, but I’m starting to wonder if reading it in a collected format will be for the best. The story is moving quite slowly with very little plot progression. That said, the opening scene is an excellent flashback with a good character moment.

Is it good?
A well-drawn issue with some interesting beats, but it's too slow to have a major impact.
Silva draws a pretty book nailing the comedy bits
The opening scene is interesting
About 14 of the pages in this book drag out and progress the plot very little
