This truly is the age of comic book adaptations.
A report out of Deadline tells us that yet another comic book is being adapted to television, Boom Studios’ Talent. Fox will be partnering with Boom! Studios to bring the graphic novel to life, alongside Fast & Furious franchise producer Neil Moritz, his firm Original Films, and Sony Pictures Television. The plan is to develop Talent into a one-hour drama, and Fox is apparently already eyeing a straight-to-series order.
The graphic novel, which was created by Christopher Golden and Tom Sneigoski, was at multiples points nearly a feature film. Moritz and later Universal Studios, had both attempted to get the project across the finish line, but were never able to get it where it needed to be.
What is Talent about? Fox has revealed the adaptations official logline, “When Nicole Dane wakes up in a hospital, she learns she is the sole survivor of a tragic accident that claimed the lives of 148 people. As rumors around her “miraculous” survival begin to swirl, Nicole discovers she has inherited the talents of those who perished. Armed with these new abilities, she must use her second chance to bring closure to their unfinished stories and solve the mystery of the accident, all while trying to escape a past that continues to haunt her. Based on the graphic novel series, Talent is a visceral, yet emotional, mystery about redemption and human connection.”
Graham Yost, showrunner for Justified, will write and executive produce the TV adaptation of Talent. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Toby Jaffe, Stephen Christy, and Ross Richie will executive produce, with Golden and Sneigoski acting as co-executive producers.
