Watch: Trailer for the 4K restoration of Oldboy

Check out the trailer for the 4k restoration of Oldboy, available this August.

In 2003, Park Chan-wook released Oldboy, the second film in his South Korean Vengeance Trilogy. Oldboy, which was released in the U.S in 2005, is getting the 4k restoration treatment this August by Arrow Films.

Oldboy, which is based on a manga by Nobuaki Minegishi and Garon Tsuchiya, tells the grim and bloody tale of Oh Dae-Su (played by Choi Min-sik), a man who after getting bailed out of jail from a night of drunken misconduct, is kidnapped. He remains a captive for fifteen years until one day he is mysteriously let go. Oh Dae-Su embarks on a mission of answers and revenge as he seeks out the those who kidnapped him.

Oldboy has undoubtedly left its mark on cinema. In 2004, Oldboy took home the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.  In 2013, Spike Lee directed a remake starring Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen.

The 4k restoration hits UK theaters August 2nd. The 4k digital download will be available on August 26th along with a limited edition 3 disc Blu-Ray and DVD.
