5 takeaways from DC’s March 2020 solicits

Robin turns 80, Aqualad’s in Young Justice and Catwoman is pursued by Penguin.

Earlier today, DC unveiled their solicits for March, revealing some very tantalizing info about the comics they’re releasing that month.

Here’re some of my takeaways from those solicits:

Robin 80th Anniversary 100-page Super-SpectacularThough this year the Dark Knight’s celebrated his 80th birthday, in 2020, it’ll be the Boy Wonder’s. A number of people who’ve written and drawn Robin before are returning for a special One-Shot celebrating his birthday.

This includes Marv Wolfman (The New Teen Titans), Tim Seeley (Nightwing), James Tynion IV (Detective Comics), Peter J. Tomasi (Detective Comics) and more, with Frank Miller (The Dark Knight Returns), Mikel Janín (Batman), Kenneth Rocafort (Sideways) and more on art. For Robin fans, this could be well worth checking out.

Batman/Superman #8 – What I love about this title is the intertwining of the Caped Crusader and Man of Steel’s worlds, as evidenced here by the appearance of both General Zod and Ra’s Al Ghul, with the latter fighting to protect his Lazarus Pit from ”Kryptonian chaos”. I just hope it doesn’t compromise Zod’s attempts at redemption, as shown in Superman.

Basketful of Heads #6 – Just from the two Hill House comics I’ve read, this is an imprint well worth reading and Basketful of Heads is no exception. This solicit just pulls me in and already has me excited for March. If aren’t already reading Heads, I heartily recommend it. You won’t be disappointed.

Batman #91 – Tynion’s run hasn’t even started yet and it’s already sounding pretty exciting. In order to save Gotham, Catwoman has to commit the greatest heist in its history – but why? She’s being pursued by Penguin, Riddler, numerous assassins and the Designer, a master criminal. I’m intrigued to see why she needs to commit a heist, who the Designer is and just what his plan is.

Young Justice #14 – Even though this is a crossover between Young Justice, Naomi, Wonder Twins and Dial H for Hero, the most exciting part for me is seeing Sideways, who hasn’t been in anything since Heroes in Crisis. What’s even better is seeing him on a team with Speedy, Aqualad and Spoiler, most of whom haven’t been in anything for a long time. Seeing all these heroes together makes the issue well worth checking out.

All of the above hit shelves next March.
