Edge squashes rumor of WWE return

‘I haven’t signed a contract.’

Fans have been nearly rabid over a potential Edge return ever since the Rated R Superstar appeared at Summerslam and speared Elias. The first ballot WWE Hall of Famer may be retired, but he can still deliver one hell of a spear and that isn’t lost on his many fans that pine for his return. Which makes it that much harder to hear that Edge isn’t coming back to WWE anytime soon.

In October of this past year reports began swirling that Edge was medically cleared, and not long after that talk was spreading that he had signed a new deal with the company. But on a recent appearance on the Live On 4 Legs: The Live Pearl Jam Experience podcast, the 4-time WWE Champion addressed all the rumors head on and squashed them.

“It’s kind of funny to me, honestly,” Edge said. “All of these rumors happening that I’ve been to Pittsburgh, and I’ve been cleared to wrestle again, and I’ve signed a new contract, and I’ve this. And I have no idea where any of it came from. The last time I was in Pittsburgh I had my wrist fused in 2013. I don’t know. I don’t know… I haven’t been there. I haven’t signed a contract. I think I would know.”

Pittsburgh is significant because it’s where WWE’s Medical Director Dr. Joseph Maroon is based out of.

“I would go to Pittsburgh to see Pearl Jam for sure but I haven’t been there and I haven’t signed a contract. I think I would know,” said Edge.

“I’ll get this tsunami of comments saying, ‘You’re coming back! You signed a contract.’ I really haven’t.”

A lot of fans have speculated that Edge will be a surprise entrant in the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble ppv. We’ll find out if they’re correct this Sunday, January 26.
