Today, acclaimed director Robert Rodriguez confirmed on Twitter that he will be one of the directors for season two of Star Wars: The Mandalorian. The post (which you can see below) shows Rodriguez enjoying the opportunity to work with everyone’s favorite little green plot device, The Child, aka Baby Yoda.

Rodriguez has helmed a number of successful genre/action films, including Sin City, Planet Terror, and (one of my personal all-time favorites) From Dusk Til Dawn. He’s also the creative force behind what he refers to as his ‘Mexico Trilogy‘ of movies: El Mariachi, Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico.
In addition to writing and directing excellent movies, the multi-talented filmmaker often takes on the role of editor, producer, cinematographer, score composer. It’s unknown how much creative control he was given for his episode of The Mandalorian, but at least we know Baby Yoda and the rest of the cast were put in very good hands.
Robert Rodriguez’s announcement was preceded today by Ant Man director Peyton Reed confirming his involvement in season two of The Mandalorian, as well.
