Jonathan Hickman’s ambitious Three Worlds / Three Moons universe is about to become even bigger. Dark Horse Comics has announced a trio of deluxe hardcover sourcebooks that will explore every corner of the expansive sci-fi setting through new comics, reference material, mythology, and lore.
The three-volume series, titled [SYSTEMS], [MAPS], and [HISTORIES], builds on the universe originally launched digitally at 3w3m.com by Hickman alongside Mike del Mundo, Mike Huddleston, and Nick Spencer. Each 200-page hardcover mixes brand-new comics with in-universe documents and world-building material designed to deepen readers’ understanding of the setting.
The first volume, [SYSTEMS], arrives on February 2, 2027. It explores the customs, cultures, religions, and societies that shape life across the Three Worlds universe. Readers will witness everything from royal duels and pirate adventures to the mythology of the gods and the politics surrounding Khor.
The book features twelve comic stories and supplemental material by Jonathan Hickman, Nick Spencer, Tini Howard, Ram V, and Al Ewing, with artwork by Jason Howard, Langdon Foss, Stephen Green, Christian Ward, Nimit Malavia, Vanesa R. Del Rey, Jeremy Haun, Valentine De Landro, and Andy Kuhn. Colors are provided by Frank Martin, Michael Garland, Brennan Wagner, and Marissa Louise, with lettering by Rus Wooton and a cover by Mike Huddleston.

The second installment, [MAPS], releases on April 6, 2027. Serving as an atlas of the universe, it charts locations ranging from the Khor-filled seas of Akva to the labyrinthine regions of Therra and the darker corners of Heir.

The volume includes twelve stories created by Hickman, Spencer, Mike del Mundo, Huddleston, James Stokoe, Juni Ba, Michael Garland, Dave Stewart, Chris O’Halloran, Marissa Louise, Chris Sotomayor, Nick Filardi, Lamar Mathurin, and Rus Wooton. Del Mundo provides the cover artwork.
The trilogy concludes with [HISTORIES] on June 1, 2027. This final sourcebook collects six comic stories while presenting a comprehensive timeline of the Three Worlds universe, alongside additional lore, data pages, and historical records from Hickman, Huddleston, del Mundo, and Spencer.

Each hardcover spans 200 pages in an oversized 8.5″ x 11″ format and carries a $39.99 price tag.
Both [SYSTEMS] and [MAPS] are available to preorder, with [Histories] available to preorder soon.
Originally launched as a digital-first project, Three Worlds / Three Moons has steadily grown into one of comics’ most ambitious shared science fiction universes. Dark Horse Comics is now bringing those stories to print, beginning this month, while these new sourcebooks promise to offer the most comprehensive look yet at Hickman’s intricate world-building.
