Marvel Comics has revealed the final batch of variant covers for Amazing Spider-Man #1000, giving fans one last look at the milestone issue’s expansive cover program ahead of its September release.
Arriving on September 16, Amazing Spider-Man #1000 marks a landmark moment for Marvel’s flagship series. The oversized issue serves as a major turning point in Joe Kelly’s current run before shifting into a lineup of anniversary stories celebrating Spider-Man’s enduring legacy.
The issue will feature two main covers spotlighting the title’s current artistic talent. Legendary Spider-Man artist John Romita Jr. teams with Paolo Rivera for a painted main cover, while Pepe Larraz delivers a dynamic traditional cover. Both artists have also created variant covers, with Marvel now unveiling Romita Jr.’s contribution, a dramatic “hero in the rain” image that has become one of the artist’s signature motifs.
Today’s reveal also includes several new collector-focused variants. Skan provides this year’s Local Comic Shop Day variant, while Todd Nauck launches a four-part connecting cover that continues across Amazing Spider-Man #1001 through #1003.
Perhaps the most notable addition is a Hidden Gem Variant featuring previously unpublished artwork by Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko. The vintage pinup has never appeared as a comic book cover or been printed in a comic before. Fans will have the option of purchasing either a newly colored version by Dean White or the original black-and-white artwork.
Marvel also continues its celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show with a Muppets Variant Cover by Paco Medina, adding Spider-Man to the publisher’s ongoing crossover cover collection.
Rounding out today’s announcements is a newly revealed variant highlighting “Tears of the Spider-Queen,” an anniversary story that brings together Frank Miller and Peach Momoko for their first-ever collaboration.
With the main covers, anniversary stories, and an impressive lineup of variants now fully revealed, Amazing Spider-Man #1000 is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s biggest publishing events of 2026.
