AEW Rankings: April 27, 2020: The rise of MJF

The salt of the Earth sits atop the AEW Rankings for the first time in company history.

AEW has released their rankings for the week of April 27 and congratulations are in order! For the first time in AEW history MJF, aka “the salt of the Earth,” has attained the number 1 spot on the men’s AEW rankings chart. Let’s see how everyone else did as we head into this week’s post-Double or Nothing episode of Dynamite.

AEW Rankings

AEW

AEW Men’s Division

AEW Champion: Jon Moxley (12-0 singles, 17-2-1 overall)
TNT Champion: Cody Rhodes (10-1, 17-6-1 overall)

1. MJF (6-0 singles, 11-1 overall)
2. Lance Archer (5-1 singles, 5-1 overall)
3. Brodie Lee (5-1 singles, 5-1 overall)
4. Kenny Omega (4-0 singles, 22-8 overall)
5. Darby Allin (6-4 singles,11-11-1 overall)

Not a long of changes to be seen here. In fact the only thing that changed was MJF taking Cody’s place at the top of the division. One week MJF isn’t ranked at all and the next he’s at the top of the AEW rankings chart. Not sure about the math there, might want to look into a little consistency TK. Either way, congratulations to MJF for his rapid rise within the division.

AEW

AEW Women’s Division

Champion: Hikaru Shida (10-1 singles, 15-6 overall)

1. Nyla Rose (5-2 singles, 11-5 overall)
2. Kris Statlander (4-4 singles, 8-8 overall)
3. Britt Baker (4-4 singles, 13-8 overall)
4. Yuka Sakazaki (1-1 singles, 1-4 overall)
5. Penelope Ford (3-3 singles, 4-5 overall)

Double or Nothing saw a new AEW Women’s Champion crowned when Hikaru Shida defeated Nyla Rose in a no disqualification match. Naturally, these two have flipped places in the AEW rankings and for the first time Penelope Ford has worked her way into the top 5, replacing the inactive Riho.

AEW Rankings

AEW

AEW Tag Team Division

Champions: Kenny Omega & “Hangman” Adam Page (6-0)

1. The Best Friends (9-3)
2. Natural Nightmares (4-0)
3. Private Party (4-2)
4. The Dark Order (5-0)
5. The Young Bucks (2-2)

The Best Friends are still sitting at the #1 spot atop the AEW rankings chart, so where’s their title shot already? Somehow The Young Bucks haven’t had an actual tag match in what feels like forever, and in a surprise to literally everyone the Natural Nightmares are now ranked #2 (don’t worry, I’m just as confused by that as you are).
