Impact Wrestling has terminated its relationship with Impact World Champion Tessa Blanchard, and stripped her of her title. Impact issued the following statement to PWInsider:
Impact Wrestling confirmed that it has terminated its relationship with Tessa Blanchard and stripped her of the Impact Wrestling World Championship.
Tessa was a rising star in the pro wrestling world, competing in WWE and later rising through the ranks of Impact Wrestling, capturing both the Knockouts Championship and the promotion’s top prize, the Impact World Championship when she defeated Sami Callihan for it at Hard to Kill in January. However, several wrestlers stepped forward around that same time, saying Tessa Blanchard is a locker room bully, and even allegedly hurled racial slurs toward wrestlers of color.
Most recently, she reportedly failed to send footage to Impact that was to be edited into a “via satellite” interview and aired on the June 1 edition of Impact Wrestling, forcing the promotion to alter the show last minute. She has not wrestled or been seen on television since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, but was scheduled to return at July 18’s Slammiversary. However, the relationship between Blanchard and Impact has deteriorated to the point where the company has terminated their relationship.
Tessa is the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW on-screen manager Tully Blanchard.
