Spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned. For more read our review of Venom #27.
Venom #27 drops Eddie Brock and his son Dylan into some kind of futuristic universe and he’s quickly trying to make sense of it. Further confusing Eddie is the new villain Virus trying to kill him at every turn and he doesn’t even know the guy. On top of this, Eddie’s Symbiote seems to be gaining new powers by the minute.
We actually get a laundry list of powers Venom now has on the first page thanks to the captions.

That is a laundry list of powers Venom has…kinda too much no?

Venom is starting to sound like the swiss army knife of superheroes. But wait, there’s more!
We’ve seen Venom sprout wings before way back in Venom #5, but in the latest issue the wings look a bit different and actually break off from the white spider logo on his back.

Marvel Comics
A slightly different look to be sure, but the real showstopper happens midway through the book. Venom is getting real sick of Virus putting him on the ropes, so Eddie’s Symbiote cooks something up.

Marvel Comics
As you can see above, the Symbiote has drawn the powers into itself similar to how the X-Men’s Bishop uses his powers, and in the very next panel, we can see what Venom can now do.

Marvel Comics
That’s right, Venom can now shoot energy blasts. Ryu and Ken ain’t got nothing on Venom now!
As you can see from this issue alone, Venom now has so many powers he’s basically capable of anything. When the King in Black story kicks off who knows how many more powers series writer Donny Cates will give him, but I know most of us will be rolling our eyes or cheering for joy to see it happen.
I highly recommend you read the entire issue for the full experience, which you can order digitally today.
