WWE eyes Orlando’s Amway Center for SummerSlam and future events

The Biggest Party of the Summer may have found its new home.

WWE is reportedly getting antsy after five months of running every show out of the WWE Performance Center, and is hoping to do something different with SummerSlam. While rumors of SummerSlam somewhere in the northeast with live fans evidently did not come to fruition, the company is reportedly now looking to Orlando’s Amway Center, both for SummerSlam, and all Raw and SmackDown events at least through the rest of 2020.

The Amway Center is home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic, and in non-pandemic times, can hold over 18,000 fans. WWE has run many episodes of Raw and SmackDown in the building.

SummerSlam was originally scheduled to be held in Boston, Massachusetts, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all large gatherings in Massachusetts were banned, forcing WWE to make other plans.

According to PWInsider, WWE is also considering using virtual fans in some capacity as well, taking a page out of the NBA and other sports leagues who have done something similar.

WWE has yet to confirm any move, but an announcement is expected soon. SummerSlam is less than two weeks away, scheduled to air on the WWE Network on August 23.
