[Fantasia] ‘Milk Teeth’: A Unique Spin on the Tooth Fairy

Milk Teeth is not reticent about blood on the screen nor does it shy away from the suffering of children.

Milk Teeth begins with Thomas, played by Aaron Bradshaw, vigorously flossing his front tooth until it pops out of his mouth. It’s Thomas’s lucky day when the voice from down the drain teaches him how to double his tooth fairy money. Milk Teeth is not reticent about blood on the screen nor does it shy away from the suffering of children. An interesting setting and the film’s theme of loneliness provide the premise for an inventive look at the folklore surrounding the tooth fairy.

Directed by Felipe Vargas and Nick Lopez, Milk Teeth is an artfully told story. The shots of the orphanage and its décor, set the stage for a magical event. Lopez’s dialogue gives a glimpse into Thomas’s life that reveals his fear and sadness and his overall place in the orphanage. The story is a humorous, but it is also very gruesome as young children start to behave in pretty outrageous ways. There is a lot of tooth loss and a lot of blood with chaotic scenes that show the frenzy surrounding the voice in the drain.

Bradshaw is a fantastic actor, his scenes are wholesome and his innocence bring a lot of charm to a character who is both timid and brave. Milk Teeth is a heavy on gore and has a pretty awesome looking creature featured. Milk Teeth is playing at Fantasia Film Fest as part of the Small Gauge Trauma Showcase.
