Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 11/30/2020

Life on other planets, festive Looney Tunes, and a new Hardy Boys series.

The beginning of December brings some interesting Channel Surfing TV picks. The new docuseries, Alien Worlds, predicts what life may be like on other planets in the universe. The Looney Tunes have new seasonal animated shorts in Bugs Bunny’s 24-Carrot Holiday Special. Finally, the Hardy Boys receive another television reboot but this time edgier and darker.

Are We Alone?

People have always pondered whether there is life out there beyond our planet. Netflix’s latest docuseries, Alien Worlds, provides an imaginative look at the different creatures and beings that we might encounter one day while exploring the universe.

Though every animal and life form depicted is completely made up, they are all based off of educated guesses derived from the science and laws of life here. Thus, the show is a combination of fact and fiction all for our entertainment.

Alien Worlds premieres on Netflix this Wednesday, December 2.

A Looney Tunes Holidays

Those beloved Looney Tunes characters came back last spring for a relaunch of new animated shorts. Now, with Thanksgiving in our rearview mirror, Bugs and company are ready with their very own festive special.

Daffy and Porky visit the North Pole in order to save Christmas. Tweety and Granny head out hunting for unbeatable holiday deals while Sylvester is set on hunting something else; mainly a sweet yellow bird.  Then, the ultimate snowball fight breaks out between feuding neighbors, Bugs and Elmer Fudd. All these tales plus fan favorites, Taz, Wile E. Coyote, and the Road Runner all appear in Bugs Bunny’s 24-Carrot Holiday Special.

The special will air Thursday, December 3, on HBO Max.

The Hardy Boys Get Dark and Gritty

Last year, Nancy Drew received a new TV show that was more broody than previous versions. It was only a matter of time before her fellow youth detectives would get their own dark iteration. Available to stream this Friday, December 4, is The Hardy Boys.

The series follows brothers, Frank and Joe, as they move to their parents’ hometown of Bridgeport following a family tragedy. The siblings soon find their detective father taking up a secret investigation that could have serious implications. As a result, they decide to do some sleuthing of their own and find their new home isn’t as serene and wholesome as they believed. As a result, the Hardy Boys approach the town’s inhabitants with caution because everyone is a suspect.
