MJF is launching his own cryptocurrency

‘DOGE? Garbage. Bitcoin? Garbage. $MJF COIN? Better than you and you know it!’

AEW’s MJF has announced he has partnered with Rally to create a $MJF, a “creator coin”, designed in his words “to create an economy around me, the fastest and youngest rising star in the history of professional wrestling.”

The Rally Network sponsors the creation of these so-called “creator coins” from other celebrities, most notably the band Portugal, The Man — “Rally’s most well known creator (until I showed up),” according to MJF. The coin is backed by Ethereum, one of the most well-known cryptocurrencies outside of Bitcoin and Dogecoin.

This is of course adjacent to the NFT (non-fungible token) craze that has overtaken the internet in the past couple of months, and along with the wider world of cryptocurrency, brings into question several logistical and ethical questions about the sustainability of creating these digital tokens, which requires an enormous amount of electricity and thus resources.

NFTs have been rebuked by many as terrible for the environment — according to Wired, the sale of a particular piece of digital artwork consumed as much energy as the studio used to create the artwork in the first place consumes in two years. Maybe this is just god-tier heel work from MJF, but this craze is A) unlikely to last and B) extremely bad for the planet’s climate, at a time where it needs all the help it can get.

But if you want to further help line MJF’s pockets, his tweet above details the process of obtaining some $MJF.
