[Tribeca ’21] ‘No Plan A’ review: Finds family fun in the pandemic

Another Covid inspired work.

There have been a lot of pandemic inspired works that focus on the isolation of the time. No Plan A gives a unique perspective as it focuses on the togetherness of the situation. Directed by Linda G Mills, the short presents a light-hearted tone manages to look at the bright side in a dark time.

The Mills family crams into a Dodge van to embark on a cross country journey to visit their grandfather who has been diagnosed with cancer. Ronnie G Mills writes and narrates this film and points out that there are still illnesses besides Covid. Completely cognizant of the pandemic, the family travels with food supplies and a portable toilet.

A breath of fresh air.

The film highlights the aggravations that can arise from traveling together in close quarters and shows the precautions taken when they reach their destination.  No Plan A could easily take on a somber tone, but the narration and directing offer a lively atmosphere filled with love and laughter.

No Plan A is a family affair, complete with a dog in tow. No Plan A is a breath of fresh air and recently screened at the Tribeca Film Festival.
