It’s time for another edition of Fantastic Five, where we present the five best comics of the week, as determined by AIPT’s review team. This week, the five most highly-rated single-issue comics come to us from DC, Marvel, and Aftershock Comics.

Catwoman: Lonely City #1
Lonely City gets right at the heart of Selina Kyle and her relationship to Gotham, resulting in a socially relevant Catwoman story like no other. This issue does a great job of dangling plot threads that will be explored in future issues, and I can’t wait to see Selina continue to make up for lost time. The first issue of Lonely City takes some huge swings, but its greatest strength lies in its strong portrayal of the lead character.

Made in Korea #5
Made in Korea #5 is some of Holt’s most sympathetic, honest, and relatable storytelling yet. Issue #5 masterfully captures the complicated layers of AI, technology, boundaries, and the dynamics of our relationships. Waiting to see how Holt will connect all the threads together in the final issue is leaving us on the edge of our seats.

Chicken Devil #1
Chicken Devil #1 is a terrific first issue and lays some solid character development on Mitchell Moss in the most gruesome ways. It’s funny, got a lot of heart and loads of potential. So get yourself to your local comic shop today and get yourself a copy.

The Death of Doctor Strange #2
The Death of Doctor Strange #2 leans into the very clever twist on this new version of Doctor Strange very well. You’ll want to see how an old-school character riffs off modern Marvel heroes while soaking up the awe-inducing Three Mothers. It’s a superhero story that already feels bold, exciting, and even a little bit haunting.

Refrigerator Full of Heads #1
Refrigerator Full of Heads #1 came right in time to add to your read pile for Halloween. It captures a lot of what makes ’80s horror great while building on Basketful of Heads too. Refrigerator Full of Heads is a jolt of horror and nostalgia that’ll leave your teeth on the floor.
