Marvel First Look: Inferno #4

Check out Iban Coello’s Inferno #4 variant cover for the final issue to Jonathan Hickman’s run on X-Men.

Inferno is going to be a bittersweet comic, to say the least, in part because it marks the departure of the Head of X himself, Jonathan Hickman, from the X-Men. His series House of X and Powers of X ushered in a new era for X-Men but now his time in the X-Office comes to a close with Inferno #4. It’s a series for the ages thanks to the artists on it which include Valerio Schiti,  Stefano Caselli, and R.B. Silva.

To help ease the pain, Marvel Comics has given AIPT a look at Iban Coello’s Inferno #4 variant cover, which may or may not shed light on what is happening in the issue (set to come out January 4th). Don’t forget to check AIPT’s exclusive interview with Jonathan Hickman in X-Men Monday #123 and Jordan D. White’s chat about Inferno #1 and Inferno #2.

The solicitation text for Inferno #4 reads:

TO EMBERS! Jonathan Hickman’s time on X-Men ends with the dramatic conclusion of one of the first and best mysteries he brought to the line. Valerio Schiti returns on art to help bring down one of the foundations of the era.

Check out the Inferno #4 variant cover below.

Inferno #4

It’s just one of ten covers, which you can preview here, but it may reveal more of what the issue is about than any cover yet. As you can see, Moira and Xavier are diving for the helmet which Xavier is usually always wearing. That helmet is a key part of Krakoa’s resurrection process, which may mean Moira is attempting to stop it.

But that’s just one conjecture so do let us know in the comments what you think is going on! At the very least, they’re certainly competing to get to the helmet first!
