[Sundance ’22] ‘F^cK ‘Em R!ght B@cK’ review: Weed butter, rap tours, and laughs at the Sundance Film Festival

Stop my bag.

F^⊄K ‘€m R!ght B@⊄K is a short film screening at the Sundance Film Festival. Sammy gets into a bit of trouble after playing at a local concert. He meets a man who offers him a piece of cake. Sammy happily agrees. Unbeknownst to him, the cake was made with weed butter. Even worse, he has a drug test at work the next day.

The opening moments see Sammy rapping at his show and set the stage for the rest of the film. Emmanuel “DDm” Williams is great in the lead role. He has great timing and is overflowing with charisma. He owns the screen whenever he is on. Kara Young is also excellent as Yolanda, Sammy’s partner in crime. There are a number of great moments where the two show the bond they have with each other. Even though Yolanda is not as boisterous as Sammy, she is still able to keep up. The two have excellent chemistry.

F^⊄K ‘€m R!ght B@⊄K is a light film that brings the laughs. The soundtrack is fun while the entire premise is reminiscent of a sitcom. It is always refreshing to see a movie that just wants the audience to have a good time. The definition of entertaining fluff, this is a must see from Sundance.

The Sundance Film Festival is online January 20- January 30. Tickets can be purchased and a full lineup can be found here.
