EXCLUSIVE AHOY First Look: Snelson: Comedy is Dying TPB

The bitter Snelson missed his big break in the ‘90s and is struggling with the idea that he’s a victim of cancel culture or, even worse, forgotten altogether.

Courtesy of AHOY Comics, AIPT has an advance first look at the introduction that’ll be published in the upcoming Snelson: Comedy is Dying collection. Set for release on March 15th, the five-issue series chronicles the misadventures of a washed-up comedian Melville Snelson whose career peaked when Dawson’s Creek was still on the air. Ouch.

It’s funny and a topical satire, as the bitter Snelson missed his big break in the ‘90s and is struggling with the idea that he’s a victim of cancel culture or, even worse, forgotten altogether.

It’s a series comedian Patton Oswalt had high praise for. “I love this book,” said Patton Oswalt. “I know this character. Wait — AM I this character? Damn you Fred Harper!” It’s also a series AIPT praised saying, “Constant and Harper created something worth talking about with the character of Snelson.”

The great David Sedaris said it best about Snelson: Comedy is Dying: “The best satire in America is between these covers. So dark, so rich, and so beautifully, eerily rendered.”

It’s a series written by Paul Constant, featuring art by Fred Harper, colors by Lee Loughridge, and lettering by Rob Steen.
