Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 04/11/2022

Our Channel Surfing TV picks this week include a comedy, a mystery thriller, and zombies.

Our Channel Surfing TV picks this week include a comedy, a mystery thriller, and zombies. Killing It takes a comedic approach to the quest for the American Dream. Weird occurrences happen at a Wyoming Ranch following a visit from a stranger in Outer Range. Then war is brewing between one-time colleagues in Fear of the Walking Dead.

Snake Hunting

Killing It is a sort of reunion with some of the talent involved in the fan favorite Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Co-creator Dan Goor along with executive producer Luke Del Tredici team up with the Pontiac Bandit, Craig Robinson, for the upcoming series.

The official synopsis says the show will cover class and capitalism as well as hunting really big snakes. Craig is down on his luck and in dire need of cash. How will he raise the funds? By entering a competition to kill the most Burmese pythons of course.

The entire first season of Killing It will drop Thursday, April 14, on Peacock.

Chaos All the Way Down

Paranormal and western aren’t two genres that are normally associated with each other. That’s why the new James Brolin lead series, Outer Range, is so intriguing. Brolin plays Royal Abbott, a rancher in Wyoming who becomes entangled in a supernatural mystery.

The Abbott family are coping with the disappearance of daughter-in-law Rebecca. Meanwhile, a death in the town sparks a chain of events culminating in the discovery of a black void on Abbott land. The arrival of a shadowy drifter named Autumn is coincidentally timed with all the strange occurrences.

The first two episodes of Outer Range will be released on Friday, April 15, on Prime Video.

This Means War

When we last left Fear of the Walking Dead, Alicia and Strand were in direct conflict with each other after the former learned the latter’s part in the death of Will. Though Alicia’s role may end before it starts since she considers herself dying from the zombie virus when her bitten arm wasn’t amputated quickly enough.

In the second half of season seven, Alicia and her people look to overthrow Strand and his Tower while keeping their search for the mythical Padre, a supposed secret government location that has the resources to rebuild humanity. If that weren’t enough, Madison, Alicia’s mother, is set to return after her presumed death back in season four.

The back half of Fear of the Walking Dead begins Sunday, April 17, on AMC.
