#5: Jay Garrick: The Flash #6
Adams, Olortegui, and company give the Garrick family an excellent spotlight that showcases their powers and bond. Just recently reunited and then torn apart by vile Doctor Elemental leads us to an entertaining exploit reminding us that you shouldn’t forget about Jay when it comes to Flashes. JSA guest stars, crazy villains, and a wonderful family will explain why the promise of the New Golden Age must continue at DC Comics.

#4: John Constantine, Hellblazer: Dead in America #4
Dead in America remains true to Hellblazer and holds up the legacy of those original Vertigo titles and characters. It knows what it needs to be doing, and it does so with just the right air of depressive wonder. Atmospherically on point and socially aware, Dead in America understands that it is capable of telling important stories; it also understands that our hero can do nothing about them.

#3: Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #26
Ultimately, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #26 is a strong start to an already striking series that continues to show how passionate and talented this already powerful creative team is at telling good comics with brilliant themes and ideas. Comics like World’s Finest are always a treat because it shows how adaptive industry veterans such as Mark Waid can be and how those veterans can influence younger creators such as Dan Mora and Tamara Bonvillain. This series stands as a perfect collaboration between the new and old.

#2: Kill Your Darlings #8
Kill Your Darlings #8 ends the series on the highest of notes, delivering emotional catharsis and some eye-meltingly good imagery in the process. Fantasy lovers, longtime comic book readers and new comic book readers should definitely read this series. As for the creators, I hope they continue to turn out new work or team up for another project down the line.

#1: Helen of Wyndhorn #2
The end of this issue sets the stage for a very different kind of story in the next issue, and I can’t wait to see what Helen’s journey holds for her. I’m also terrified for her. After all, it doesn’t seem like her family’s tale is a happy one — but it must be told. Helen of Wyndorn evolves into something even more beautiful and strange in its second issue, weaving a tale of loss, secrecy, and the importance of storytelling.
