If you’re looking to fill that olympic sized void in your television viewing this week, allow us to present our Channel Surfing TV picks. Get ready for more zany adventures with everyone’s favorite family from Planet Shlorp in a new season of Solar Opposites. A Carl Hiaasen novel gets an adaptation in Bad Monkey. Then, a fan favorite pop culture duo gets the anime treatment in Rick and Morty: The Anime.
Adjusting to Life on Earth
Korvo, Terry, Yumyulak, and Jesse first came to our planet to colonize it, and build a new home for their people. After four seasons, the Solar Opposites have pivoted from their original plans and have decided it to call it home and live alongside humans.
In the new season, Korvo and Terry continue to explore their relationship and take it to another level. Also, the replicants have not been doing too well in school and risk being held back a year. The biggest development pertains to the residents of the Wall and where they are settling now. If you watch the trailer all the way through, you might see the reappearance of one of its former rulers.
Stream the entire fifth season of Solar Opposites beginning today, August 12, on Hulu.
A Case Filled with Trouble
Bill Lawrence has a productive relationship with Apple TV+ having developed both Ted Lasso and Shrinking for the streaming platform. His latest project is an adaptation of a best selling Carl Hiaasen novel.
Bad Monkey follows a former detective now food inspector investigating a murder case where the only remnant of the victim is a single human arm. He soon finds himself caught up in a world of corruption and greed that spans from the Florida Keys to the Bahamas. However, if he can solve the case, he might get back his old job.
The two-episode series premiere of Bad Monkey is Wednesday, August 14, on Apple TV+.
A Different Part of the Multiverse
What first began as short films featuring an iconic Adult Swim duo has become a full fledged series. Rick and Morty: The Anime comes from the visionary mind of Takashi San and is produced by Sola Entertainment with Jason Demarco and Joseph Chou serving as executive producers.
We find Rick finding refuge in a pseudo-word in between multiverses. Elsewhere, the mother/daughter team of Space Beth and Summer battle the evil Galactic Federation, and Morty falls for an enigmatic girl who turns out to be an atemporal being. The look might be different, but you can expect more science fiction fun.
Rick and Morty: The Anime debuts Thursday, August 15, on Adult Swim.
